Healthy Ways to De-StressIf you are anything like me, you experience a lot of stress and have trouble getting rid of it. Stress can be a very negative feeling that can have many negative affects on your health causing anything from a poor immune system to heart attacks. It makes us tired, drained, and can fog our brains. Luckily there are many tips for reducing stress.

First, remember to laugh. It has been noted that when you laugh, your body experiences a pleasurable change in its chemistry that can last as long as 45 minutes. When you are feeling really stressed out, try and find something to laugh about. You can watch a funny show or spend time with friends who make you smile.

Second, pets have been found to be a great stress relief. There’s something about pets which is therapeutic. Playing and interacting with a pet can reduce high blood pressure and help to bring feelings of calmness within individuals. There’s a reason why dogs are man’s best friend.

Third, nature is a great stress relief. This isn’t a new concept. Nature has been soothing for people for ages. Physical exercise is also very helpful, so take a walk outside and get some fresh air!

Fourth, music is good for reducing stress. It has the ability to distract and soothe the mind. Personally, I find music to be very soothing and it has helped me deal with stress and has helped to calm me down. I have been referring however to listening to music. But, I’ve also had experience where playing the piano has helped me to reduce stress as well and calm my mind. Fifth, make sure to take the time to relax. Being busy is a huge source of stress. So plan out time in each day to take time for yourself and do things that make you happy. Take the time to sit down and breathe.

Sixth, exercise. This is probably my favorite tip for reducing stress. It seems to work the best for me. Whenever I am really stressed out, I go to the gym. After a good cardio workout I feel so much better, my mind is clear, and I can deal with the issues that have upset me.

Seventh, stress balls can be useful. Many people find these squishy balls helpful at relieving their stress and tension. By methodically squeezing the ball it releases pent up energy in a healthy way. When you have stress bottled up inside you need to look for a healthy and positive way to release it and this is just that.

Eighth, it is important to get plenty of rest and eat well. Sleep is very important to individuals in allowing them to perform their duties and responsibilities well. Also, one’s diet directly affects how they feel. So if you are like me and experience lots of stress, take some of these tips and see what they can do for you! You don’t need to live with the stress, do something to get rid of it!
